About B&M Telecom, Inc
Overview of our Fiber Optic Cable Contracting Company
B&M Telecom, Inc (A Service Disabled Veteran Owned Company & a TXDot certified SBE) was established in 1987 by Ballard & Muenier, both former copper telephone splicers. They began spicing fiber optics in 1987 and incorporated in 1989. The business grew both in employees and customer base through 1996 as a premier OSP and ISP fiber optic splicing and services company that includes 24/7 emergency restoration. In 1997 the company expanded to include ISP structured cabling services as well as equipment installation and turn up and test of equipment.
Success opened the door for even more expansion in 1999 as the company began to offer ISP and OSP engineering services that included CAD and inspection. Today B&M Telecom still offers a turnkey solution to our customers using internal resources for Fiber Optic Splicing and ISP Installations and outsourcing qualified contractors for any additional services required.
Our company has completed all types of fiber optic networks, from the small REA CO-OP and ISD projects to large long haul and metro rings throughout the country. Our splicing services extend beyond the completion of the project for our customers. We have established maintenance and 24/7 emergency restoration contracts with several companies. B&M Telecom’s fiber optic splicing services have a proven reputation of quality and efficiency with our customers. We treat your network as if it was our own and recognize the importance of meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality.
We opened our Florida fiber optic cable contracting office in 2012.
Capabilities
We currently have 15 full time in house fiber optic technicians with all of the trucks, tools, and equipment needed to perform splicing and testing in aerial and underground settings. Our staff has over 110 years of combined experience and training.
We have performed fiber cable services in most states across the country over our history, traveling from our home office for long and short term projects as needed. Additional resources are available as needed to boost our capabilities two fold via agreements with subcontract splicing companies that meet our quality and workmanship standards. However, we always maintain at least one in house foreman to oversee any subcontract labor.
Our fleet of vehicles includes splicing trailers, splice labs mounted on new model ¾ ton trucks, and bucket trucks for aerial applications. Each splice lab is provided with power and safety equipment, in addition to other tools like pumps and blowers as required.
We also maintain a large assortment of OTDRs, power meter sets, and fusion machines and other various specialty equipment. Our equipment is maintained with calibration and repair per the manufacture recommendations. We strive to keep our equipment up to date by purchasing the latest technologies available. Our primary OTDRs are CMA 4000s and our primary Fusion Splicers are Sumitomo Type 39.
As of November 2010 our staff is IMSA Level II Fiber Optic certified through Light Brigade and IMSA Work Zone Safety trained.
Stability
Our company has maintained stability for 25 years by establishing long term relationships with our customers. We maintain, plan, survey, and engineer fiber paths, in addition to performing the splicing and testing for most of our customers. Long term vendor relationships and credit accounts provide us with buying power to provide materials for projects as needed. Also, due to our longevity, we have established relationships with equipment and material manufactures directly. This provides us additional leverage in buying power. In some cases we buy direct, eliminating the distributor markup.
Availability
We maintain an ever present staff in our home market to provide daily and emergency services to our local customers. In addition, some of our staff is dedicated to traveling to any market a customer requests.
Emergency Restoration
B&M Telecom has provided emergency restoration services to our customers since our inception. We have a long history of onsite response within 2 hours, and short time to repair. We have never missed an onsite deadline in our history, and due to our experience, we can prepare and splice quickly.
